ABOUT ME

Great design, to me, is about creating spaces that feel as good as they look — a kitchen that draws people in, a bath that feels like a retreat, rooms with the kind of quiet detail you notice slowly, over years of living in them. That's the standard I bring to every luxury residential project: an eye for composition and craftsmanship, paired with genuine care for how a family will actually experience the space.

My foundation in fine art from Westmont College taught me to see spaces compositionally, understanding how form, light, and texture work together. Before transitioning fully to interior design, I spent over a decade as a graphic and web designer, developing skills in client communication, project management, and visual problem-solving. I also founded S.Rose Designs, an artisan product business that deepened my understanding of craftsmanship and the full creative process from concept to completion.

As a freelance interior designer, I've developed expertise in space planning, custom cabinetry design, and material specification. I create comprehensive design guides and technical drawings using hand-drafting, Photoshop, Illustrator, and AutoCAD. I work closely with clients to understand their needs, then coordinate with contractors and vendors to execute designs on time and within budget, maintaining careful oversight throughout construction.

That coordination goes deeper than final specs. A large part of my process lives in the details most people never see: material boards, furniture and lighting specs, fabric swatches, and floor plans built before a single piece is ordered. I work closely with vendors and showrooms to track down the right piece — whether that's a custom sofa, a lighting fixture, or the perfect stone slab — and I stay involved through delivery and installation to make sure what's selected on paper looks right in the room.

I am seeking to join an established design firm where I can bring creativity and craftsmanship to custom luxury, hospitality, and residential projects — working alongside experienced designers while continuing to grow professionally.

CREATIVE PRACTICES

Living in Santa Barbara offers a never-ending source of inspiration—the light, the landscape, and the natural beauty of the California coast fosters an environment that invites creativity in all its forms. It's a place that makes it easy to slow down and make things. Outside of client projects, I continue to explore form, color, and composition through pottery, watercolor painting, and flower arranging—for myself and for friends. Each one continues to inform how I see color, texture, and composition in my interior design work.
